Mr. Neilson proposed the following amendment :

Section 2, line 8, strikeout the words "next election held in
said city," and insert "the first election to be held in said eity
'next after the passage of this Act;"

Which was adopted.

The amendment proposed by Mr. Smith was then rejected.

Mr. Magruder proposed the following amendment.

In line 3 of section 2, after the word "and" insert the
words "due notice of said;"

Which was adoptd.

Mr. Knott proposed the following amendment:

Strike out all after the word "shall" in 4th line of 2nd
section to the word "and" in 6th line of same section, and
insert " vote on the question of running the cars on Sunday
by expression in writing, or printed, the words, ' For running
the cars on Sunday,' or ' Against running the cars on Sun-
day,' as the case may be ;"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Davis, of Charles, proposed the following :

Amend section 3d, by striking out all after the word
"adopted" in the 8th line, and insert "But nothing contained
in this Act shall be so construed as to prevent the running of
the cars on Sunday until the announcement of the vote by
the Governor ;"

Which was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the amendment proposed
by Mr. Davis, of Baltimore city,

It was rejected by yeas and nays as follow :
