MONDAY, February 18, 1867.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. McNemar.

Present at the call of the Roll the following members:

Messrs. Miller, Speaker, Morgan, Beck, Welch, Ford, Ship-
ley, Nicolai, Davis, of Charles, Jones, Jump, Parsons, Phelps,
Kerr, Lindsey, Magruder, Calvert, Rouzer, Baker, Linthicum,
Gorsuch, jSteiner, Tobey, Bishop, Burche, Neilson, Smith,
Flaherty, Robson, Hooper, Israet, .Knott, Lankford, Stevens,
Kraft, Boswell, Thomson, Davis, of Baltimore city, Walte-
meyer, Feig, Bixler, Pitts, Aydelott, Gordy, Wilson, Spicer,
Bruce, McCulloh, Devecmon, Neale, Criswell, King, Ham-
mond—53.

Mr. Ford presented a petition from 50 citizens of Baltimore
county, praying for a reduction of the tolls on the Baltimore
and York Turnpike ;

Also, a petition from 25 citizens of Baltimore county,
praying for a reduction of tolls on the Baltimore and York-
town Turnpike;

Which were read and referred to a Select Committee already
appointed on that subject.

Mr. Stevens presented a petition of the Baltimore Manuel
Labor School;

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
State institutions.

Mr. Tobey presented a petition from Daniel Emert and 89
others, praying for a modification of license law so as to pre-
vent the issuing of license for selling liquor in Tillmanton
district, Washington county ;

Which was read and referred to the Committtee on the
Judiciary. ^

Mr. Aydelott presented a memorial of Rev. William D.
Mackey, E. K. Wilson, George S. Richardson and many
other citizens of Worcester county, remonstrating against
any legislative action, whereby the existing restrictions for
the observance of the Christian Sabbath wpnld be relaxed ;

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Sunday Laws.

Also, a memorial of 16 young men now constituting the
first division of the Boys Grammer School in Snow Hill, Wor-
cester county, respectfully petitioning the Legislature to so
amend the Public School Law, that free tuition may be given
to pupils until they are 21 years of age, and also to those who
