Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Appleman presented the petition from citizens of Boons-
boro, in referrence to a cemetery in said county;

Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.

Mr. Magruder presented the memorial of J. B. Kerby, R.
W. Brookeand other citizens of Prince Georges' county, pray-
ing against any modification of the Charter of the Baltimore
and Potomac Railroad;

Which was read and referred to Committee on Internal
Improvements.

On motion Mr. Hammond,

Ordered, That the use of the hall of the House of Dele-
gates be granted to Professor Carson, of St. John's College,
on Tuesday evening next, for the purpose of delivering a lec-
ture on the study of the English language and literature.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Jones offered the following :

Ordered, That the use of the hall of the House of Dele-
gates be granted to Rev. S. V. Leech, of Annapolis, to de-
liver a lecture on the writings and character of Edgar Alien
Poe, on Monday evening next the 18th instant;

Which was not adopted.

Mr, Lankford moved a reconsideration of the vote by
which the order of Mr. Jones was rejected;

Which was not sustained.
On motion of Mr. Kerr,

Ordered, That leave of absence be granted Dr. Francis P.
Phelps, to-morrow to enable him to go to Baltimore on im-
portant business.

Mr. Appleman offered the following :

Ordered, That the use of this hall will not be granted to
any one in the future.

Mr. Thomas offered the following as a substitute :

Ordered, That the use of the hall of the House of Dele-
gates, be granted to the Honorable John T. Mason, on Wed-
nesday evening next the 19th instant, for the purpose of de-
livering a lecture therein;

Which was adopted,
Mr. Stevens offered the following :

Ordered, That the bill to allow certain persons to pursue
