On motion by Mr. Waters,

Ordered, That the Reading Clerk of the Senate, be directed
not to allow any bills to be examined while in his possession,
except by members of the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Bowie, it was

Ordered, That the President of the Baltimore and Ohio
Rail Road Company be requested to furnish the Senate with
an accurate statement of the gross earnings of the Baltimore
and Ohio Rail Road, and the Washington branch of the same
since 1861, inclusive. The expenditures of the same roads
for the same period, and the proportion thereof charged to
each of said roads. The amount of the earnings of each of
said roads still in the hands of the company not distributed,
why such surplus fund, if any is so held, and to what pur-
pose it is being, or designed to be applied.

On motion by Mr. Tome,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Tome, Frazier and Bowie to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Susquehanna Hotel Com-
pany of Parkee Point.

On motion by Mr. Kimmel,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled, an Act to add additional
sections to the thirtieth Article of the Code of Public General
Laws entitled crimes and punishments, providing for the
punishment of certain offences relating to public offices.

On motion by Mr. Bowie,

Leave was granted to Committee on Agriculture to intro-
duce a bill entitled, an Act to add an additional Article to
the Code of Public General Laws entitled, "sale of agricultu-
ral products."

On motion by Mr. Jump,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce u bill to allow additional compensation to Luther H.
Gadd, as Clerk in the Comptroller's Department for the years
1865 and 1866.

Mr. Vickers, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to amend the 28th
Article of the Code of Public General Laws, by adding there-
to additional sections ;

Which was read the first time.
