the bill entitled., an Act to change the name of William
Smith of Baltimore county, to William France.
Mr. Bamfond from Select Committee reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act prohibiting the sale of intoxicating li-
quors in District No. 1 Washington county.
Mr. Whiteford from Select Committee reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Pennsylvania Mutual
Horse Thief Detective and Insurance Company, of York,
Pennsylvania, to transact business in the State of Maryland.
Mr. Davis, of Charles, from Select Committee reported fa-
vorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 1 and 3 of
sub-section four of chapter 160 of the Act of January session,
1865, providing a uniform system of Free Public Schools, for
the State of Maryland, and re-enact the same with amend-
ments;
Which were severally read a first time.

The rules being suspended,
The House took up for consideration the bill entitled,
an Act to repeal the 27th, 28yth, and 29th, sections of
the 2d Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, and to en-
act another section in lieu thereof, relating to the sale of
spirituous liquors to the paupers at the Alms House in Anne
Arundel county;
Said bill being upon its third reading,
