On motion of Mr. Boswell,

The vote by which the order offered by him authorizing
evening sessions, was reconsidered.

The vote then recurring upon the order, it was not adopted.
On motion of Mr. Bishop,

Leave was granted the Washington county delegation to
report a bill incorporating Howard Lodge No. 13, I. O. Good
Templars, of Washington county;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Stevens submitted resolutions asking the Secretary of
War to retain the rolls of the soldiers of Maryland where
they now are;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Thomas, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to pay to
Isaac C. W. Powell and James Lloyd Martin, former State's
Attorneys for Talbot county, commissions on a certain sum
of money collected by them and paid into the Treasury of
this State ,

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Carmichael, Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary,
reported unfavorably upon a bill entitled, an Act to increase
the salary of the Judges of the Court of Appeals and the
Judges of certain Courts in Baltimore city ;

Which was concurred in.

Mr. Williams, from the Committee on Claims, reported
favorably a bill entitled, an Act to pay Augustus Gassaway
and Robert Vinton Clayton a sum of money for services ren-
dered in removing, rewrapping and rearranging papers and
records belonging to the office of the Clerk Court of Appeals of
Maryland ;

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Knott, Chairman of the Committee on Elections, made
the following report :

Was ordered to be printed and made the order of the day
for Wednesday, 6th of February, at one o'clock P. M.

Mr. Phelps from a Select Committee reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act for the benefit of the Cambridge Female

Mr. Aydelotte from a Select Committee reported favorably
