The Speaker appointed Mr. Bixler, Chairman of the Com-
mittee on Education, in the place of Mr. Magraw, deceased,
and Mr. Aydelott as a member of said Committee. Mr.
Evans on the Committee of Ways and Means, and Mr. Nel-
son on the Committee on Corporations, in the place of Mr.
Magraw.

On motion of Mr. King,
The House adjourned until Monday at 12 o'clock, M.

MONDAY, February 4th, 1867.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hammond.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Miller, Speaker, Morgan, Beck, Welch, Hall,
Williams, Clarke, Cameron, Hutchins, Ford, Shipley, Nicolai,
Davis, of Charles, Thomas, Jump, Jones, Parsons, Phelps,
Kerr, Magruder, Calvert, Rouzer, Buhrman, Baker, Linthi-
cum, Gorsuch, Steiner, Appleman, Tobey, Bishop, Hutton,
Burche, Turner, Coleman, Neilson, Smith, Flaherty, Rob-
son, Hooper, Israel, Knott, Lankford, Stevens, Kraft, Bos-
well, Thomson, Davis, of Baltimore city, Waltemeyer,
Feig, Bixler, Aydelott, Nelson, Spicer, McCulley, Bruce,
McCulloh, Carmichael, Benton, Poole, Criswell, Wampler,
Gore, Dawson, Horsey, Hammond—65.

The Journal of Friday, (as corrected by the Speaker,) was
read and approved.
The Journal of Saturday was read and approved.

The Speaker, in compliance with the order passed on Satur-
day, appointed F. Middleton, a Page of this House, Com-
mittee Clerk, in the place of Mr. Ware.

The Speaker laid before the House, the petition of sundry
citizens of Annapolis, asking for a modification of the local
liquor law for that city, so as to impose a penalty on minors
who obtain liquor by representing themselves to be of full
age.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
ciary.

Mr. Phelps presented the petition of sundry citizens of East
New Market in Dorchester county, praying for an extension
