Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to provide for the selecting, draw-
ing and summoning of juries in Washington, Frederick and
Carroll counties, and prescribing their qualifications;

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Gilpin proposed the following amendment:

Section 2. line 2, insert the words, "or religious," after
the word "political," and before the word "opinions;"
Mr. Neale moved the previous question,
Which was sustained.
The question then being,
"Shall the previous question be now put;"
It was decided in the affirmative.

The question then recurring upon the amendment proposed
by Mr. Gilpin;
It was rejected.

Mr. Gorsuch proposed the following amendment:
