Ordered, That this House recognizes the Constitution of
1864 as the supreme law of the Stat«, and that it deprecates
and will oppose file passage af any law, resolution or order
conflicting with the letter or spirit of said Constitution ;

Mr. Clarke moved to postpone, and make it the order of
the day for Tuesday next, at 2 o'clock ;
Which was decided in the negative.
Mr. Hammond proposed the following substitute :
Ordered, That this House recognizes the present Constitu-
tion of the State as binding upon it, subject only to the Con-
stitution of the United States, and that any intimation to the
contrary is slanderous and false ;
