and to re-enact another "provision in lieu thereof."
Severally endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
Also, delivered the Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal
section 227 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws re-
lating to elections in the city of Baltimore, and to re-enact the
same with amendments,

Which was read a first time and referred to Messrs. Bos-
well, Thomson and Israel.

Mr. Boswell, (the Rules being suspended) reported said bill
favorably, without amendment,

And the said bill was then read a second time.

Mr. Thomson presented the report from State Tobacco
Warehouse No. 1 from January 1st, 1865, to December 31st,
1866;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on In-
spections.

Mr. Lankford presented the remonstrance of C. S. Maltby
and a number of others, against the passage of a law to levy
a tax on oysters ;

Which was read and referred to the Commitee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Hutchins presented the petition of the Hon. Judges of
the Orphan's Court of Baltimore county, asking a change in
the sessions of said court;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Burche, presented the petition of citizens of Mont-
gomery county, praying for the passage of a law authorizing
the County Commissioners to pay such Registers of 1865 and
1866, as they deem deserving of their per diem ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Carmichael presented the petition of J. P. Harris and
others, praying that no change may be made in the Sunday
law, respect to the running of the cars on the City Passenger
Railway, in the city of Baltimore ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Also, the petition of E. Y. Goldsborough and fifty other
citizens of Frederick county, praying the passage of an Act
authorizing and directing the State's Attorney of Frederick
county, to institute proceedings against the President Man-
agers and Company of the Baltimore and Fredericktown
Turnpike Company for reasons therein stated ;
