and to re-enact the same with amendments, so as to extend
the provisions of the same to Somerset county.
On motion of Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an Act supplementary to an Act en-
titled, an Act to repeal the 10th section of Article 11 of the
Code of Pablic General Laws relating to attorneys and to
enact a substitute therefor.

On motion of Mr. Appleman,

Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill requiring State's Attorneys throughout the
State to give bond.

On motion of Mr. Carmichael,

Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill to repeal Article 80 of Public General Laws, en-
titled, State Reporter, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

Also, Leave was granted the said Committee to report a
bill entitled, an Act to declare the sanction of the General
Assembly to a bequest of Margaret J. Newman to the stew-
ard of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Centreville, Queen
Anne's county.

The hour of 12 o'clock having arrived, in compliance with
the adjournment of yesterday and in conformity with the Act
of Congress, chapter 245, entitled, "an Act to regulate the
time and manner of holding elections for Senators in Con-
gress," the Senators of Maryland, appeared in the Hall of the
House, and the two bodies conjointly, proceeded to hold an
election for Senator to succeed the Hon. John A. J. Creswell,
in the Congress of the United States.

The roll of Senators and Members of the House of Dele-
gates being called, it appeared by a viva voce vote of each Sen-
ator and Member present (a majority of all the members elec-
ted to both houses being present and voting) that:
