Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Knott presented a petition of Rev. S. Deutsch and five
hundred other cit zens of Baltimore, of the Jewish religion,
praying for a modification of the Sunday law,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judic-
iary.

Mr. Benton presented a petition from the Tunker Society,
praying to be exempted as serving as Jurors;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judic-
iary.

Mr. Wampler presented an application of Mrs. Emily J.
Rinehart, for compensation for publishing the laws of Mary-
land;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Stiner presented a petition from Rev. W. F. Colliflower
and nine other members of Mont Zion Church, in Frederick
county, to make valid a deed;

Which was read and refered to Committee on the Judi-
ciary.

The Speaker announced the following standing Committee
on Registration:

Messrs. Evans, Dawson, Robson, Knott, Davis of Charles,
Appleman, Rouzer.

Mr. Magruder presented a petition from Townley B. Robey
and others, praying compensation as officers of Registration;
Which was read and referred to Committee on Registra-
tion.
Mr Thomson submitted the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 16th, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

The aet of Congress requiring the two Houses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, to meet in joint session, to hold an election
for United States Senator, in the event of a failure to agree
upon said election on the second Tuesday, after the meeting of
the General Assembly;

And this House having complied with the terms of said law
at the session of yesterday, without a successful result;

We respectfully inform your Honorable Body, that we pro-
pose to hold a joint session of the two Houses in this Hall this
day at 12 o'clock, and invite the Senators to be present.
