The journal of yesterday was read and approved.
Mr. Ford presented a petition from John Wethered and
others, of Baltimore county, praying for the passage of an
Act to empower and require the County Commissioners, of
Baltimore county, to borrow money to re-build the bridges
destroyed by the late freshet;
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.
Mr. McCulloh presented a petition from Nathaniel Sehner
and other citizens of Washington county, praying that the
existing law may be so modified that he may obtain redress
for grievances suffered from mobs and riots in Hagerstown.
Also petition from citizens of Washington county, praying
the passage of a law for the correction of abuses in the exist-
ing mode of summoning juries in said county;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judici-
ary.
Mr. Clarke presented a petition from D. K. Lusby and
others, praying for an appropriation to erect Eastern Hay
Scales at Canton, in Baltimore county;
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.
Mr. Boswell presented the application of William Wales,
for compensation for publishing the laws of Maryland;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Knott presented a petition from the Rev. John N.
Williams and the committee of the First Baptist Church of
Baltimore, praying for the exemption from taxation of a
charitable fund for the support of widows of said church;
