The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.
Mr. McCulloh presented a petition from thirty-seven citi-
zens of Cumberland, Allegany county, to amend the Sunday
law, passed at January session, 1866;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Hammond presented a petition from Charles Ridgely
and others, praying that the General Assembly may take
steps towards perfecting the charter of the Frederick and
Baltimore Turnpike Company, upon the ground that it has
been charging higher tolls than the law permits;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Cameron presented a petition from C. Gore and sun-
dry citizens of Baltimore county, asking that the pay of the
Baliffs of the Circuit Court for Baltimore county may be in-
creased;
Which was read and referred to Baltimore.county delegation.
On motion of Mr. Neilson,
Ordered, That the Mayor of the city of Baltimore, be and
he is hereby respectfully Requested to report to this House,
at as early a day as practicable, the amount of money re-
ceived during the year 1866, from the owners, consignees or
masters of foreign passenger vessels, under sections 250, 251,
252, 258, 254, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 261 and 262 of
Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, specifying the
amount received as commutation money, and the number of
