Mr. Appleman, submitted the following:

Ordered, Thai James Tregle, from Howard, be appointed
a clerk to mark documents for this House;

Which on motion of Mr. Calvert, was laid on the table.
On motion of Mr. Lankford,

Leave was granted the Committee on Ways and Means, to
report a bill entitled, an Act to repeal so much of section- 2d,
Article 81, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
"revenue and taxes," as relates to taxes on Mortgages, and
to add an additional section thereto.

On motion of Mr. Lankford,

Leave was granted the Committee on Inspections, to report
a bill to repeal section 477 of Article 4th of the Public Local
Laws relating to the inspection of lumber in the city of Bal-
timore; and to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Boswell;

Leave was granted Messrs Boswell, Turner and Kraft, to
report a bill providing for the establishment of Public Scales
for the weighing of coal in the city of Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,

Leave was granted the Committee on Corporations to re-
port a bill entitled an Act to revive and extend "an Act to in-
corporate the Wonestee Rail Road Company" passed at the
January session, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, with
amendments.

On motion of Mr. Parsons;

Leave was granted the Somerset county delegation to re-
port a bill entitled an Act for the protection of Partridges in
Somerset county, and to prevent the killing of them at night.

Mr McCulloh from a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act supplemental to an Act of 1866, chap-
ter 93, relating to a patent for a .tract of land in Allegany
county, called "St. Barts."

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Tobey, from a Select Committee, reported favorably, a
bill entitled an act to allow Robert H. Boteler, to have a cer-
tain Deed recorded in the Clerk's office of Washington coun-

ty.

Which was read the first time.

On motion of Mr. Hoffman, the said bill was referred to
the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Appleman, from a Select Committee, reported favora-
bly a bill entitled an Act to prevent the selling or pedling of
