insert "at the legal rate of interest;"

Which was adopted ;

The bill was then read a second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Hammond,

He was excused from serving on the Committee on Elec-
tions.

The bill entitled, an Act to authorize the City of Cumber-
land to bridge the Potomac ;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Knott,

The vote by which the bill in relation to the election of the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore was passed to a third
reading, was reconsidered.

Mr. Knott submitted the following amendment:
That the sixteenth section be amended by striking out all
after the word "thereafter," in the fourth line;
