Leave was granted the Committee on Claims to report a bill
to remunerate William L. Clark and other editors, for publish-
ing the Public General Laws of this State.
On motion of Mr. Neilson,
Leave was granted Messrs. Neilson, Williams, Calvert,
Boswell and Buhrman, to report a bill to amend the act of
. 1866, entitled, an Act to encourage and facilitate immigration
into the State of Maryland.
On motion of Mr. Carmichael,
Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill to be entitled, an Act to provide for the selection,
drawing and summoning of juries in Washington, Frederick
and Carroll counties, and prescribing their qualifications.
On motion of Mr. Aydelott,
Leave was granted the Worcester county delegation to re-
port a bill authorizing the Commissioners of Worcester
county to sell certain real estate in the village of Newtown.
On motion of Mr. Bishop,
Leave was granted the Committee on Education to re-
port a bill entitled, an Act to authorize the Board of School
Commissioners of Washington county to expend the Public
School Fund of said county, or such portion of it as may, in
their judgment, be necessary, in the erection, repairs and
furnishing of public school houses in said county.
On motion of Mr. Appleman,
Leave was granted the Washington county delegation to
report a bill to protect the Coach Manufacturers of Washing-
ton by a license law.
On motion of Mr. Pitts,
Leave was granted the Worcester county delegation to
report a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the town of Berlin,
Worcester county.
Mr. Nicolai submitted the following resolution:
Resolved by the General Assembly, That the Comptroller be
and is hereby directed to proceed without delay to adjust and
settle the claims of the Maryland Soldiers for bounty; and of
the former owners of enlisted slaves, as provided in the Acts
of the General Assembly in reference thereto, and that he in-
form this House what additional clerical force is necessary to
be authorized, if any, to accomplish the settlement of said
claims;
