the Governor's message, shall consist each of five members
of this House, to be appointed by the Speaker.

On motion of Mr. Gore,

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Mr. A.
Wampler, member from Carroll, is absent on account of ill-
ness in his family.

On motion of Mr. Bishop,

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal of this
House that Mr. Tobey would, had he been present, voted
against the resolutions endorsing President Johnson and
Governor Swann.

On motion of Mr. Horsey,

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Dau-
son, of Caroline, is called home by sickness in his family.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bill:
A bill entitled, an Act to add additional sections to Article -

of the Code of Public General Laws, supplemental, volume

2, title small pox ;

Which was read and referred to Committee on the Judiciary.
On motion of Mr. Ford,

Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to report a
bill to repeal section 3 of Article 88 of Public General Laws
and re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Smith, (the rules being suspended,)

Ordered, That the Joint Special Committee appointed to
visit the reformatory institutions of the State, be and they
are hereby instructed to enquire if the 4th section of the 73d
Article of the Code of Public General Laws has bten violated,
and if so, by whom and in what particular.

On motion of Mr. Appleman, (the rules being suspended,)

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Messrs.
Appleman and Bamford would have voted against the reso-
lutions endorsing President Johnson and Governor Swann,
had they been present.

On motion of Mr. Thomas,

Leave was granted Committee on the Judiciary to report a
bill to relieve the securities of Philip Drum, of New Orleans,
in a forfeited recognizance in the Circuit Court for Carroll-
county.

On motion of Mr. Nicolai,

Leave was granted the Baltimore county delegation to report
a bill to provide for the rebuilding of the Hay Scales at Canton,
Baltimore county.

On motion of Mr. Aydelott,
