TUESDAY, January 8, 1867.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hammond.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Miller, Speaker, Appleman, Aydelott, Baker, Barn-
ford, Beck, Benton, Bishop, Boswell, Bruce, Buhrman,
Calvert, Carmichael, Clarke, Coleman, Criswell, Davis, of
Baltimore city, Dawson, Feig, Flaherty, Ford, .Gilpin, Gordy,
Gore, Gorsucb, Hall, Haller, Hammond, Hutton, Hooper,
Horsey. Hutchins, Israel, Jones, Jump, Kerr, King, Knott,
Kraft, Lankford, Lindsey, Liuthicum, Magruder, McCulley,
McCulloh, Morgan, Neilson, Nelson, Nicolai, Parsons,
Phelps,Pitts, Poole, Robsori, Rouzer, Shipley, Smith, Spicer,
Steiner, Stevens, Thomas, Thomson, Turner, Waltemeyer,
Wampler, Welch, Whiteford, Whitaker, Williams, Wilson,
—71.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Messrs. Jones, of Somerset, and Bamford, of Washington
county, appeared in their seats, and were qualified by the
Speaker.

Mr. Wampler presented a petition from the Manchester
Savings Institution of Carroll county, for an act of incorpo-
ration;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Coleman presented a petition from the Second Univer-
salist Society of the city of Baltimore for a law to authorize
them to sell their burial ground ;

Which was road and referred to the Committee oa Corpo-
rations.

The Speaker laid before the House the certificate of the
Return Judges of Election in Allegany county ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Also, the Report of the Principal and officers of Charlotte
Hall School;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

On motion of Mr. Clarke,

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that James C.
Clarke, of Baltimore county, would have voted "aye" on the
resolutions endorsing President Johnson and Governor Swann,
had he been in his seat when the vote was taken yesterday.
