shall, asking for compensation for services rendered a« tempo-
rary Post-Master to the Senate, at its called session held in
Frederick city, in 1861;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
On motion of Mr. Bowie, it was

Ordered, That his Excellency, the Governor, be requested
to direct that the National Flag shall be kept flying from the
dome of the State House to-morrow, in commemoration of
the victory gained at New Orleans on the 8th January, 1815,
by General Andrew Jackson, whose national services to, and
love of his whole country, are hereby commended, as an ex-
ample worthy of all imitation by those who would now destroy
the very State whose soil he and the brave men under him
endangered their lives to defend.

On motion of Mr. Ohr,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Ohr, Waters and Mules, to
report a bill to repeal sub-sections 179 and 180, with section
two of chapter sixty-six of January Session, 1866, and re-en-
act the same with ameudments.

Mr. Compton submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 7th, 1867.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We concur in your message proposing the appointment of
a Joint Committee, on so much of the Governor's message as
relates to an Executive mansion, and name on the part of the
Senate Messrs. Compton, Mackall, Waters and Ohr, to join
the gentlemen appointed by your Honorable Body.

A. GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of Dele-
gates.

On motion of Mr. Ohr,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to re-
port a bill to amend section 12 of chapter 194, January Ses-
sion, 1853.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Hon.
Richard Mackall, Senator from Calvert, is detained from his
seat in the Senate, by severe indisposition.

On motion of Mr. Bowie, it was

Ordered, That Alfred Spates, of Allegany county, claiming
a seat as member of the Senate, be accorded the privilege of a
