Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of 61 citizens of
Cecil county, protesting against the'erection of booms in the
Susquehanna River ;

Which was read and referred to the committee on that sub-
ject.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Judicial Proceedings in-
quire into the expediency of allowing trial by jury of all mat-
ters of fact in the Courts of Chancery of this State, as is now
allowed in the courts of law.

On motion of Mr. Stirling, it was

Ordered, That the President of the Chesapeake and Dela-
ware River Canal Company be requested to furnish the Sen-
ate with the rate of tolls charged by said company, and
whether any discrimination is made against local or Mary-
land freight from Baltimore,

On motion of Mr. Mules,

Leave was granted the 'Committee on Finance to introduce
a bill to exempt the Whateoat Methodist Episcopal Church
from taxation.

On motion of Mr. Vickers,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled, an Act to authorize the
County Commissioners of Kent county to convey to John
Haddaway and others of said county, a portion of a landing
on Chester River, in Quaker Neck.

On motion of Mr. Vickers,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled, an Act for the "relief of
Thomas Lusby, and to appoint Commissioners to assess dam-
ages sustained by him in the opening of the public road
through his land.

On motion of Mr. Henkle,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Henkle, Mackall and Billings-
lea, to introduce a bill to incorporate the Medical Faculty of
Maryland, and to prevent the practice of criminal abortion.

On motion of Mr. Brodwater,

Leave was granted to Committee on Judicial Proceedings to
introduce a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 106 and 107
of Article 81, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
revenues and taxes, and relating to tax on executors' and ad-
ministrators' commissions.

Mr. Maddox presented the account of Jas. S. Downs, for
printing laws;
