be distributed among the Public Schools of the county."

On motion of Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to report
a bill to compensate Ezekiel F. Chambers for legal services
rendered the State.

On motion of Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Earle, Stevenson and Jump,
to report a bill to make valid certain acts of the Commission-
ers of the Queen Anne's and Kent county Kail Road, discharg-
ing duty under charter granted in 1856, chapter 149, and to
amend certain parts of said charter.

On motion of Mr. Earle,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Earle, Vickers and Davis of
Caroline, to report a bill to amend an Act entitled, "an Act
to authorize and empower the County Commissioners of Queen
Anne's county, to levy a tax not exceeding sixty thousand
dollars, for the benefit of said road, if the citizens of the county
shall vote in favor thereof."

On motion of Mr. Earle,

Mr. Frazier was appointed one of the Committee to wait on
his Excellency the Governor, and inform him of the organi-
zation of the Senate.

Mr. Earle from the Joint Committee, appointed to wait
upon His Excellency, the Governor, and inform him that the
two Houses of the General Assembly are organized, and ready
to receive any communication he might be pleased to make,
reported that the Committee had performed that duty, and
that they had been requested by His Excellency to inform the
Senate that he would communicate a Message to the two
Houses, in a few moments.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 3d, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Committee of five Members on the
part of the House, and five Members on the part of the Senate,
to prepare, and report a bill for the call of a Constitutional
Convention. We have appointed on the part of the House of
Delegates, Messrs. Carmichael, Phelps, Knott, Bixler, and
Morgan.
