Mr. Tome presented the petition of John S. Vanneman and
Son, and 190 tax payers of Port Deposit, Cecil county, in fa-
vor of Harford and Cecil county Boom Company;
Which was read and referred to the committee already
raised on that subject.
Mr. Spates presented the petition of 75 citizens of Allegany
county praying the passage of a law to refund to G«orge Her-
ring, the sum of $500 paid into the State Treasury, &e.;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
On motion of Mr. Davis, of Caroline,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to intro-
duce a bill to authorize and require the School Commissioners
of Caroline county, to levy upoa the assessable property of
School District No. 3, in Election District No, 3, of said conn-
ty, a sufficient sum of money to pay the expenses of building
the school house in said District, and to refund to certain per-
sons the money advanced by them in the erection of said
school house.
On motion of Mr. Philpot, it was
Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to
procure two suitable frames to contain the Address of General
George Washington, delivered on the occasion of the resigna-
