So the amendment was rejected.
Mr. Fawcett submitted the following amendment:
Strike out all after the word "that," in first line, down to
"Baltimore," in the fourth line, and insert, "The county
commissioners of each county and the city council of Balti-
more, shall pay such sum to the assessors as in their judg-
ment may be a sufficient compensation for their services."
Mr. Buhrman called the previous question.
The question being, "Shall the main question be nov
put?"
It was decided in the affirmative.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend-
ment;
Mr. Jamison demanded the yeas and nays.
