So the amendment was rejected. The hour of two o'clock having arrived, the Senators mied by the Lieutenant Governor, appeared in the Hall of the House; On motion of Mr. Foster, The Speaker appointed Messrs. Foster and Hazen, a committee to wait upon the committee from the Baltimore city Union Convention and invite them to the House. Mess's Foster and Hazen, in the performance of the duty assigned them, waited upon the committee and shortly after introduced them to the General Assembly, when they were received by the Speaker, who expressed the readiness of the Assembly to receive any communication they had to make. Mr. C. Herbert Richardson, on behalf of the committee then presented the resolutions adopted by the City Union Convention. The House then resumed the consideration of the Assess- ment bill. Said bill was then read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
