1866.] OF THE SENATE. 9 THURSDAY, January 11, 1866. Mr. Earle, the Senator for Queen Anne's, and Mr. McNeal, the Senator for Talbot, appeared and took their seats. Mr. Ohr submitted the following order : Ordered, That H. Swartzwelder be appointed a Commit- tee Clerk to the Senate ; Pending its consideration a message was received from His Excellency, Governor Swann, by the hands of Peter Leary, Jr., Esq., Private Secretary ; Which was read. [See Document A.] On motion of Mr. Tome, The order submitted by Mr. Ohr was laid on the table. On motion of Mr. Ohr, Resolved. That the message of Governor Swann be referred to a select committee of five to report, the reference of its sev- eral topics to appropriate committees. The Chair appointed Messrs. Ohr, Trail, Eaton, Stephen- son and Lansdale. On motion of Mr. Trail, Ordered, That two thousand copies of the Governor's Message be printed for the use of the Senate. On motion of Mr. Ohr, Leave was granted Messrs. Ohr, Frazier and Wells to re- port a bill to incorporate the Allegany Vine-Growing Manu- facturing and Agricultural Association. On motion of Mr. Ohr, Leave was granted the Committee on Judicial Proceedings to report a bill amendatory of Article 93, Code of Public Gen- eral Laws, title, "Testamentary Laws." On motion of Mr. Ohr, Leave was granted Messrs. Ohr, Trail and Landsdale, to report a bill for the protection of sheep in Allegany county. On motion of Mr. Ohr, Leave was granted Messrs. Ohr, Whitney and Earle to re- port a bill to incorporate the Workingmen's Co-operative Store of Cumberland. 2 |
