10 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 11, On motion of Mr. Ohr, Leave was granted Messrs. Ohr, Eaton and Tome to report a bill to amend Article 1, Code of Public Local Laws, title, "Allegany County." On motion of Mr. Tome, Leave was granted the Committee on Finance to report a bill to authorize conjointly the Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer, or any two of them, to sell at public auction the Bank and other stocks now standing to the credit of the Free and Common School Fund, and invest the same in the De- fense Loan of the State of Maryland. On motion of Mr. Billingslea, of Carroll, Leave was granted the Committee on Judicial Proceedings to report a bill for the benefit of the Rev. John Gloyd, as Pastor of the Roman Catholic Church in the city of West- minister, Md. On motion of Mr. Billingslea, of Carroll, Ordered, That the Librarian be requested to furnish to each member of the Senate the Journals of the last session, the Code and the Constitution, so far as they may be in the Library, to be returned at the end of the session. On motion of Mr. McNeal, Leave was granted Messrs. McNeal, Davis, of Caroline, and Earle to report a bill for the protection of fish in the waters of Talbot county. On motion of Mr. Earle, Leave was granted the Committee on Internal Improve- ments to report a bill to revive the act of 1856, incorporating the Queen Anne and Kent Railroad Company, and to extend the time of the Commissioners appointed by that act to do and perform the several things thereinafter mentioned. On motion of Mr. Tome, Leave was granted the Committee on Finance to report a bill to authorize conjointly the Governor, Comptroller and Treasurer to sell the State's interest in any of the banking institutions of this State, and invest the same in like amounts of the State's debt now owing or in the defense loan of the State of Maryland. Mr. Earle presented the memorial of J. West Thompson; Which was read. |
