8 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 10, The President presented the following Communication: BOONSBORO, January 8th, 1866. Dear Sir,—Severe indisposition from which I have not en- tirely recovered, will prevent my presence at the opening of the Session, but as I am now able to sit on my chair, hope to be with you soon and attend to such duties as may be assigned me. Respectfully, ELIAS DATIS. To Lieut. Gov. Cox. President of Senate. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following message, which was read. BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES, January 10th, 1866, Gentlemen of the Senate: The House is now organized, and is prepared to proceed with the business of the Session. We have appointed Messrs. McGauley, Smith of Allegany, and Miller, of Anne Arandel, a Committe on the part of this House to wait upon His Excellency, the Governor, and receive any communication he may have to make. By order, WM. R. COLE, Chief Clerk. On motion of Mr. Turner, Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that the Sena- tor from Baltimore county is detained from his seat in the Senate by severe indisposition. On motion of Mr. Turner, Ordered, That the Librarian furnish the members and officers of the Senate with the same articles of stationery as was furnished by him at the last Session. Mr. Ohr, from the Joint Committee, appointed to -wait upon His Excellency the Governor, and inform him that the two Houses of the General Assembly were organized and ready to receive any communication he might be pleased to make, reported that the Committee had performed that duty, and that, they had been requested by His Excellency, to in- form the Senate that he would communicate a message to the two Houses to-morrow at 12 M., and, The Senate adjourned. |
