So the first clause of the amendment was rejected.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the second
clause of the amendment, to insert the name of Mr. Wat-
kins, of Montgomery;
Pending the consideration of which;
The joint Select committee, appointed to wait upon Admi-
ral Porter, sad invite him with his staff, to visit the General
Assembly, appeared in the hall of the House with their
guests.
The members rose, and the Speaker of the House extended
a formal welcome.
On motion of Mr. Watkins;
The House took a recess until half-past seven o'clock, P. M.
