86 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 26, Mr. Turner submitted the following amendment: Section 6, line 4, insert "March" instead of "May," Which was read and adopted; Mr. McMaster submitted the following order: Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns, it adjourn to meet at 4 1/2 o'clock P. M. Mr. Billingsley, of St. Mary's, moved to strike out "4 1/2 o'- clock," and insert "7;" Determined in the negative. The order was then adopted. The Clerk of the House of Delegates, delivered the following Message: BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. January 26, 1866. Gentlemen of the Senate: We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, to meet in joint Session in the hall of this House at 2 o'clock to day, and receive the communication of the Committes from the Convention recently held in Baltimore city, of which Com- mittee the Hon. M. Blair, is chairman, asking for the repeal of the Registry law, or some action on the part of the Legis- ture, having for its object the restoration of the elective fran- chise to the citizens of the State, who may now be deprived thereof by the provisions of the Constitution, and the existing Registry Law. By order, WM. R. COLE, Chief Clerk. Also returned the resolutions remonstrating against the construction of any railroad through the State of Maryland, against her consent; Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays with proposed amendment;" "Amend resolution third, page six, by striking out the words "five members" and inserting the words "Speaker and four members;" Which were read and adopted, and the resolutions were passed by yeas and nays as follow: |
