Mr. Rinhart presented a petition irom one hundred ladies
of the town of Liberty, Frederick county, praying the pas-
sage of a law to prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors in
said town;
Which was read and referred to the committee on \\ ays
and Means.
Mr. Watkins presented a petition from L. D. Shaw and
thirty-five other citizens of Montgomery county, in lavor of
the \Vasliingioii, Frederick and Lake Erie Riiilroad;
Which was real and referred tu the committee on Corpora-
tions.
Also, a petition Trom Wm. A. \Yaters and. thirty-four cit-
.izens of Washington county, in favor of the Washington,
Frederick and Luke Erie Railroad", i
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations. .
Mr. Valliant presented a petilion 'from tweiity-nino citi-
zens of Talbot cyunty, praying for a modification of the law
of Registration;
Which was rea.l and referred to the committee on Registra-
tion.
Mr. Cook presented a memorial from George II. Berry
and others, against the incorporation of the Baltimore Fire
Insurance Company;
Whioh was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. McCauley/from the committee on the Judiciary, reported
fivorahiy Sen.it.e bill entitled, An Act to authorize- Willium
II. Downs, oi' Anne Arundel county, to act in the double
capacity of Justice of 'die Peace and Assistant Asaessi-ir;
Which was read the second time. ,

The rule's were suspended, and the bill by spsci:.il order,
rc.id the third time;
Mr. Silver moved to strike out the enacting clause of the
bill;
