Mr. Markey, presented a petition from forty citizens of
Frederick county, praying for the passage of a bill to incor-
porate the Chesapeake and Lake Erie Railroad Company;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo- .
rations.
Mr. Smith, of Frederick, presented a petition from James
L. Davis and thirty-six others, in favor of a law prohibiting
the sale of intoxicating liquors within two miles of the vil-
lage of Buckeystown, Frederick comity:
Also a petition from one hundred and thirteen citizens of
Middletown district of Frederick county, against the passage
of a law probiting the sale of spirituous liquors in said dis-
trict;
Which were read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Angel, presented a petition from the citizens of Car-
roll and Frederick counties, praying for the increase of the
per diem of witnesses;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Judi-
ciary.
Mr. King, presented a petition from James Sheraden, S.
Haven Wilson, Rufus King and others, and a number of la-
dies, asking a change in the Liquor Laws;
Vvhich. was read and referred to the committee on the Judi-
ciary.
Mr. Slothower, presented the remonstrance of Samuel
Hunt and one hundred and one others, against the passage
of a law to allow the Passenger Railway to run their cars on
the Sabbath;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.
Also, a remonstrance from Thomas Y. Camby and others,
against the passage of a law allowing the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, to levy an Insurance Tax;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Chew, presented a memorial from twenty-nine citizens
of Prince George's county, praying lor a repeal or modification of the legisitration Law;
