1866.] OF THE SENATE. 83 Mr. Clarke submitted joint resolutions amending the 4th and 7th sections of article 1st of the Constitution; Which were read the first time; and Referred to Messrs. Clarke, Trail and Whitney. Mr. Eaton from the committee on Colored Population, re- ported a bill changing the Code relating to the competency of witnesses; Which was read the first time, and ordered to be printed. Mr. Frazier, from the committee on corporations, reported the following bills: Which were read the first time. A bill to incorporate the Dimes Saving Bank of Baltimore, A bill to incorporate the Chester Town Water company. Mr. Tome from the committee on finance, reported a bill changing the General Law relating to Revenues and Taxes. A bill in favor of E. F. Chambers; Which were severally read the first time, Mr, Wells from the committee on Judicial Proceedings, to which was referred the bill amending the Act incorporating the Maryland Mutual Insurance company of Baltimore, changing the name and increasing the powers of said com- pany; Reported it without amendment, and It was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. Also reported a bill entitled, an Act to add an additional section to the 56 article of General Laws, entitled, "Licenses" and prescribing the duties of the Sheriff of Baltimore city, in relation thereto; Which was read the first time. Mr. Clarke, from the committee on Invalid Deeds, to which was referred the following bills; A bill to make valid the bequest of Ann Shultz, of Wash- ington county; A bill to make valid the Act of C. R. Stewart, as Com- missioner in the estate of N. Forrister; Reported them without amendment, and they were read the second time. |
