Mr. Soper, from the committee on Ways and Means, re- ported favorably a bill, entitled, an Act to aid in the reor- ganization of St. John's College; Which was read the first time. ,' Also, favorably a bill, entitled, an Act to provide additional revenue for the State of Maryland, and create funds for cer- tain purposes; Which was read the first time. On motion of Mr. Tull, The leave granted the committee on Registration, to report a bill to restore-the right of citizenship to certain persons in Dorchester, Worcester and Somerset counties, was withdrawn and referred to Messrs. Tull, Hoffman, Willis, Agnew and Wardwell. Mr. McCauley, from the committee on the Judiciary, re- ported favorably the Senate bill, entitled, an Act to regulate and make uniform the compensation of County Commission- ers; . Which was read the second time. Also. favorably, a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 2 and 3, of an Act, passed January session, 1865, chapter 49, entitled, "an Act to aid and encourage enlistments into the Maryland Regiments in the service of the United States, passed 1864, chapter 15, and to provide for the prompt pay- ment of the bounties therein specified, and to repeal section 4, of said act, and to re-enact the same so as to make the boun- ties therein specified payable to the widows and heirs of de- ceased soldiers, and to re-enact and amend the same. Which was read the first time. Also, favorably a bill entitled, an Act to add new sections relating to the division of estates, and rights of elections, to the 47th article of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Inheritance," and to repeal part of section 34 of said ar- ticle; ' "Which was read the first time. Also, favorably a bill entitled, an Act to authorize and re- quire the Commissioners of the several counties throughout the State to pay the bailiffs of the circuit courts the same per diem at may be paid to their jurors, and for other purposes; |
