Mr. Soper presented a petition for the passage of a law to promote the observance of the Sabbath, from J. F. Lester, Daniel Sprigg, Daniel A. Jones, and fifty others; Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju- diciary. Mr. Roberts presented a memorial from James' Merrick, Joel Thomas, and 216 other citizens of the first election dis- trict of Queen Anne's county, praying a repeal of the Regis- try Law; Which was read and referred to the committee on Regis- tration. On motion of Mr. Barron, Ordered, That it be entered upon the journal that Mr. Mules is absent from his seat in this House on account of sick- ness in his family. On motion of Mr. Tull, Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to report a bill to prevent the sale of ardent spirits, ale, or lager beer, within one and one-half miles of Savage Factory, Howard county. On motion of Mr. Jamison, Leave was granted the St. Mary's and Charles county dele- gations to report a bill authorizing James Richardson to erect gates upon a public road in St. Mary's county. Also, leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to report a bill authorizing Benjamin Norris to convey by deed a tract of land to the party therein mentioned. On motion of Mr. McCauley, Leave was granted the committee on Education to report a bill authorizing the County Commissioners of several counties |
