Mr. Soper presented a petition from W. B. Canfield, Henry
Stockbridge,. G. S. Griffith, and 359 others, for the passage
of a law to promote the better observance of the Sabbath;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary,
Mr. Cook presented a petition of Richard F. Mason, Wm.
H. Cook, J. Frank Talbot, and 940 others, in favor of the
eight hour system of labor;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Soper presented a petition of Purvis & Co., Dr. James
Casney Thomas, J. C. Canfield, and 114 others, against the
passage of a law allowing the passenger railway company to
run their cars on the holy Sabbath;
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore city delega-
tion.
Mr. Holloway presented a petition from thirty-three citi-
zens of Worcester county, against the new county;
Which was read and referred to the Worcester county del-
egation.
Mr. Sherry presented a petition from 17-5 citizens and regis-
tered voters of Cumberland, Allegany county, against any
modification or repeal of the Registry Law;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Regis-
tration.
Mr. Tolson presented a petition from A. M. Arlett, and
seventy-four citizens of the town of Centreville, against the
passage of a law preventing the raising of swine within the
limits of said town;
Which was read and referred to the Queen Anne's county
delegation.
Mr. Warner presented a petition from Samuel Hopkins
and twelve, citizens of the fifth election district of Howard
county, in favor of a law prohibiting the sale of intoxicating
liquors in said district;
Which was read and referred to the Howard county dele-
gation.
Mr. Agnew presented a petition from 140 citizens of Em-
mitsburg district of Frederick county, asking the passage of
a law to prohibit the sale or giving away of any spirituous
liquors in said district;
