The journals of Friday and Saturday were read and ap-
proved.
The Speaker laid before the House the testimony in the
contested election case of Spence vs. Franklin;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Elec-
tions.
Also, a. report of the House of Refuge;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Miller, of Anne Arundel, presented a petition of A.
Randall and numerous other citizens of Annapolis, praying
the passage of a law prohibiting the sale of intoxicating
liquors within five miles of the city of Annapolis,
Also, memorial of the Mayor and Aldermen of the city of
Annapolis, asking the passage of a law prohibiting the sale
of spirituous and fermented liquors within five miles of the
city of Annapolis;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Rider presented a petition of citizens of Sharptown
district. Somerset county, praying the passage of a law pro-
hibiting the sale of spirituous liquors in the village of Sharp-
town;
Which was read and referred to the Somerset county dele-
gation.
Mr. Pennington presented a petition of Benjamin B. Price
and sixty others, asking for an appropriation therein men-
tioned;
Which was read and referred to the Cecil county delega-
tion.
Mr. Smith, of Dorchester, presented a petition of John M.
Willis and sixty-six other citizens of Church Creek district,
of Dorchester county, remonstrating against the. passage of
an Act prohibiting the sale of spirituous liquors within two
miles of the village of Church Creek;
Which was read and referred to the Dorchester county del-
egation.
Also, a petition of Col. James Wallace, asking an appro-
priation of a sum of money for legal services rendered the
State;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims.
