Was taken up for consideration on its second reading.
Mr. Slothower (submitted the following amendment:
Section 6. And be it further enacted, That the President,
Directors and Secretary of the company, shall on the first of
each and every January, make a sworn statement before a
Justice of the Peace of Baltimore city, of the amount of gain,
profit and losses (if any) of said Maryland Fire Insurance
company.
Section 7. And be it further enacted, That the President,
Directors, Secretary of said Maryland Fire-insurance company,
shall publish said statement of the condition of the company, in
not less than three of the daily Newspapers published in
Baltimore city;
Which was adopted.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mess-
age;
By TUB SENATE,
January 26, 1866.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have received your message proposing a joint meeting
of the two Houses in the Hall of the House of Delegates at
2 o'clock to-day and respectfully concur therein.
By order,
C. HARWOOD,
Secretary.
Which was read.
On motion of Mr, Angel,
Ordered, That this House at 3 o'clock, take a recess, until
7 1/2 o'clock P. M.
The hour of. 2 o'clock having arrived, the Senators accom
paned by the Lieutenant Governor, President, appeared in the
Hall of the House, and were invited to seats by the Speaker.
On motion of Mr. Miller, of Anne Arundel,.
The Speaker appointed Messrs. Miller, of Anne Arundel,
and Chew, a committee to wait upon the committee of the Con-
vention and invite them into the Hall for the purpose of re-
ceiving any communication they may have to make.
The committee after a brief absence, returned to the House
and shortly afterwards appeared, and introduced the commit'
