Was referred to the committee on Finance.
Also, from the same committee reported the following bills:
A bill entitled, an Act changing the name of Rebecca
Ricaud;
A bill entitled, an Act to authorize W. H. Downs, of Anne
Arundel county, to act in the double capacity of Justice of
the Peace and Assistant Assessor,
Which were read the first time;
Mr. Clarke, from the committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was committed the bill to authorize the Governor,
Comptroller and Treasurer to exchange or sell the Bank Stock
standing to the credit of the several counties of the State, for
the free and other schools.
Reported it with an amendment,
Which was read and adopted.
The hour having arrived, for considering, the order of the
day,
On motion of Mr. Stephenson,
It was postponed;
The bill was read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
Mr. Tome, from the committee on Finance, reported a bil
entitled, an Act to authorize the Governor, Comptroller
and Treasurer to sell the stock held by the State in the
Farmer's Bank of Maryland, the Bank of Baltimore and
other Banks in the city of Baltimore, in the Central Bank of
Frederick and Easton Bank of Maryland,
Which; was read. the first time;
Mr. Tome, from the committee on Finance, to which was
referred the bill to authorize the commissioner of the Land
Office to issue a patent for certain land therein mentioned; .
Reported it with an amendment,
Which was read and adopted,
And the bill was read the second time.
Mr. Tome, from the committee on Finance, reported a bill
entitled, an Act to authorize the Governor, Comptroller
and Treasurer to sell the dividend stock held by the State in
the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company ;
Which was read the first time;
