THURSDAY, January 25, 1866.
The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. McNemar.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. Frazier, Speaker, Agnew, Angel, Bartell, Barron,
Brown, Buhrman, Calvert, Cairns, Chew, Clift, Comegys,
Cook, Cronise, Cummings, Darling, Dean, Eavey, Everhart,
Fooks, Garrison, Harris, Hazen, Hodson, Hoffman, Hollo-
way, Hopkins, Hynes, Jamison, Jones, Keefer, King, Kirk,
Leaverton, Lee, Lusby, Malone, Markey, McCauley, McCul-
lough, Miller, of Washington, Mittag, Mules, Nairne, Nor-
ris, Parker, Pennington, Pilkington, Rider, Rinehart, Rob-
erts, Robinson, Shaw, Sherry, Slothower, Smith, of Alle-
gany, Smith of Dorchester, Smith, of Frederick, Soper,
Stewart, Stone, Tdson, Tull, Usilton, Valliant, Wardwell,
Warner,; Watkins, Williams. Willis, Wilson, Wooden,
Ziegler—73.
The journal of yesterday was read and approved.
Mr. Stewart presented a petition from William Welling
and forty-three other citizens of the 5th Election district of
Howard county, praying the passage of a law prohibiting
the sale of intoxicating drinks in said county;
Which was read and referred to the Howard county dele-
gation.
Mr. Hoffman presented a petition from John H. Long-
necker and others of Baltimore county, asking that the Reg-
istry Law may not be modified;
Which -was read and referred to the committee on Regis-
tration.
Mr. Eavey presented a petition from fifty citizens of Wash-
ington county praying the passage of the Chesapeake and
Lake Erie Railroad hill;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. Tull presented a petition in behalf of the bill for the
"better observance of the Sabbath from William Woodward,
E. & S. Frey, Leonard Passano, William Bridges and 166
other citizens of Baltimore;
"Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Also, a petition-remonstrating against the passage of any
law allowing the Passenger Railway to run their cars on the
