Also, a petition from William G. Nicholson and two hun-
dred and eighteen other citizens of Caroline county, against
the passage of an act to prohibit the sale of spirituous liquors
in Denton, the county town of said county;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Cronise presented a petition from one hundred citizens
of Washington county, in favor of remuneration for losses
sustained by the rebellion;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims.
Mr. Poteet presented a petition of two hundred citizens of
Baltimore county, praying for an act equalizing bounties paid
to soldiers;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Pennington presented a petition from citizens of Ce-
cil county in relation to the right of: franchise of George W.
B Taylor;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Regis-
tration.
Mr. Hynes presented a memorial from one hundred and
seventy-five citizens of Baltimore and Locust Point asking
the passage of an Act to amend the Ferry Law;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. Cook presented a memorial from John A. Thompson,
asking compensation for services rendered;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims.
Mr. Smith, of Frederic!?, presented a memorial from fifty
citizens of Frederick county, against prohibiting the sale of
spiritous liquors in 2 1/2 miles of Ijamsville, Frederick county;
Which was read and referred to the Frederick county dele-
gation.
Mr. Miller, of Washington, presented a memorial from
Lewis P. Fiery, George Mish and one hundred and sixteen
other citizens of Washington county, asking an amendment
of the Code of Public General Laws, making the cutting of
timber a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the Peni-
tentiary;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
