Which was read the first time,
Mr. Smith, of Allegany, move to recommit said bill to the
committee on Corporations.
Decided in the affirmative.
Mr. Hambleton presented a petition from Martha Carroll,
widow, and others, of the first Regiment, Maryland Volunters,
asking bounty;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims.
A message was received from the Executive at the hands
of the Secretary of State, John W. Carter, Esq., transmitting
the returns of a special election held in (Queen. Anne's county,
for member of tile House of Delegates in the place of John
Lee, resigned.
Mr. Lemuel Roberts, the delegate elect, was qualified by
the Speaker.
Mr. Calvert from a Select committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act amendatory of an Act entitled, an Act
to establish and endow an Agricultural College in Maryland,
passed at January Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-six,
chapter 97, and of a supplemental Act passed at January
Session eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, chapter 265;
Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Lusby,
The said bill was referred to the committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Poteet from a Select committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act to incorporate a company to make a
Turnpike Road from the Baltimore and Yorktown Turnpike
to My Lady's Manor in Baltimore county;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Pennington from a Select committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act supplementary to the Act of 181') 4, chap-
ter 353, entitled, an Act to incorporate the President and
Commissioners of the town of Cecilton,
Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Pennington,
The rules were suspended, the bill road the second and
third times by special order, and passed by yeas and. nays,
as follow:
