110 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 19,
Canal company, passed at December session, eighteen hun-
dred and fifty-three, chapter 140;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Miller, of Washington county, from a Select commit-
tee, reported favorably an Act to authorize and empower the
county Commissioners of Washington county to assume a just
proportion of the debt assumed by the Mayor and Council-
men of the town of Hagerstown, as the McCausland debt;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Lee, of Baltimore city, from a Select committee, re-
ported favorably an Act to enable the Mayor and city Council
of Baltimore city to subscribe to the capital stock of the
Western Maryland Railroad company, to an amount not ex- '
ceeding two hundred thousand dollars;
Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Lee,
The rules were suspended;
The bill read the second and third times by special order,
and passed by yeas and nays as follow;
