The said resolutions were then sent to the Senate.
Mr. Poteet submitted the following
JOINT RESOLUTIONS
To amend the fourth article of the Constitution:
Resolved by the General Assembly of Man/land, Three-fifths
of tile members elected to both houses concurring; that; it the
Constitution be and is hereby amended by striking out the'
21, the 28 and the 32 sections of article 4, and inserting in
the place and stead thereof, respectively the following:
Section 21. The salary of the Justices of the Court of Ap-
peals shall be six thousand dollars each per annum; payable
quarterly, accounting from the first day of January, in the
year eighteen hundred and sixty-six.
Section 28. The salary of each Judge of the Circuit court,
(except the 13th Circuit,) shall be three thousand dollars per
annum, payable quarterly; accounting from the first day of
January, in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-six.
Section 32. Each of the said Judges of the said Courts of
Baltimore city, shall receive an annual Salary of six thous-
and dollars, payable quarterly; accounting from the first day
of January, in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-six.
Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Pilkington,
Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary, to re-
port a bill to authorize the Directors of the. Maryland Insti-
tution for the instruction of the Blind to sell certain property
in the city of Baltimore.
Mr. Poteet from the committee on Claims, reported favor-
ably a bill entitled, an Act to authorize Grayson Eichelber-
ger, State Bounty Commissioner of Frederick county, to pay
Dennis H. Maynard certain bounties;
Which was read the first time.
Also, favorably a bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum
of money to pay Thomas E. Dell, for Supplemental Codes,
purchased by the State Librarian in accordance with Joint,
Resolution Number 1, January session eighteen hundred and
sixty-five;
Which was read the first time.
Also, favorably a bill entitled, an Act to compensate Isaac
E. Pearson for services rendered as State's Attorney for Car-
roll county; also to refund to Joseph Logsdon, of E., certain
money erroneously paid into the Treasury as Collector for
Allegany county;
