Which was read and referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. Soper presented a memorial from the President and
Managers of the Susquehanna and Tide Water-Canal com-
panies;
Which was read and referred to the committee on. Ways
and Means.
Mr. Calvert presented a memorial from the trustees of the
Maryland Agricultural College, praying for additional legis-
lation;
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Calvert, Pilking-
ton, Smith, of Dorchester, McCauley and Slothower.
Mr. Hynes presented a memorial from the Commissioners
of Public Schools of Baltimore city;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Educa-
tion.
Also, a memorial from the Maryland Soldiers' Relief Asso-
ciation to the General Assembly of Maryland;
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Hynes, Mittag
and Willis.
The Speaker laid before the House the Fifth Annual Report
of the Baltimore Female College;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Edu-
cation.
On motion of Mr. McCauley,
Ordered, That the use of this Hall be given to the School
Convention, this evening, at 5 o'clock.
On motion of Mr. Smith, of Allegany,
Ordered, That the Pages appointed by the Hon. Speaker
of this House be required to perform the specfic duties im-
posed upon them of attending to the Files of the members.
On motion of Mr. King,
Ordered, That five thousand copies of the Comptroller's
report be printed for distribution by the members of this
House, one thousand of the same in German Language.
On motion of Mr. Buhrman,
The following order, submitted on Monday last by Mr,
Cook, was taken up:
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that this House
most unqualifiedly endorses the letter of General Grant, pub-
