Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways and
Means.
Mr. Mules presented a petition from John Reed, James
B. Redon and others, asking an amendment to the laws re-
lating to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Internal
Improvements.
Mr. Eavey presented a petition from Daniel Fahmey and
seventy-five citizens of Washington county, praying that the
Appropriation to the Western Maryland Railroad by the
Commissioners may not be legalized;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr. Miller presented a petition from fifteen hundred citi-
zens of Washington county, praying the General Assembly
to pass an act legalizing the subscription of ($150, 000), one
hundred and fifty thousand dollars, by the Commissioners of
Washington county, to the capital stock of the Western
Maryland Rail-road;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr. Williams presented a petition from Walter Heller and
James M. Beall, to be allowed to vote;
Which was read and referred to the committee on Regis-
tration.
Mr. Cronise presented a petition from Samuel J. Piper,
and sixty-eight other citizens, in favor of repealing the Act
prohibiting fishing by pots on the Potomac river;
Which was read and referred to the Washington county
delegation.
Mr. Stewart presented a petition from John H. Windsor,
and thirty-five others, in favor of a law prohibiting the sale
of spirituous liquors in the fifth election district of Howard
county.
Also, a petition from Edward McCauley, Sheriff of Howard
county, asking an increase in the compensation for the keep-
ing and boarding prisoners in the jail of said county;
"Which wag read and referred to the Howard county dele-
gation.
Mr. Markey presented a petition from 150 citizens of Fred-
erick county, praying the passage of an Act to institute pro-
ceedings against the Baltimore and Frederick Turnpike Road
company, for violation of charter;
