So the question upon its adoption was decided in the affir-
mative.,. "-
Mr. Pilkington, in accordance with notice .previously
given, submitted the following; " ;-
Ordered, That an additional committee be added to the
Standing committees of the House, said committee to be
called a committee on Registration;
Which was adopted.
The Speaker announced the following committee, in ac-
cordance with the above order:
Messrs. Pilkington, Markey, Hoffman, Jamison, Harris,
Sherry and Usilton.
The following message was received from the Executive,
at the hands of his private secretary, Peter Leary, Jr.,
Esq.
STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, Jan. 16, 1866.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
1 herewith transmit the returns of the late elections for
Judge of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit, and Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court for Anne Arundel county in this State, having
been notified that the right of the present incumbents to hold
said offices, will be contested at this session of your honora-
ble body.
THO. SWANN.
Which was read and referred to the committee on Elec-
tions.
The Speaker laid before the House the evidence in the con-
tested election of Spence vs. Franklin;
Which was referred to the committee on Elections.
On motion of Mr. Smith, of Allegany,
Leave was granted the committee on Ways and Means to
report a bill to authorize the Commissioners of the Land
Office to issue a patent to John A. Smith, for a tract of land
called "St. Barts," in Allegany county.
