BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 13, 1866.
Gentlemen of the Senate'.
We propose to your Honorable Body that a Joint Commit-
tee be appointed to proceed to the Government House, and
take an inventory of the furniture, and. report what repairs
or additions are necessary; and also what amount of money
will be necessary to make said repair or additions. We
name Messrs. Harris, Calvert and Lusby,

.Which, was read and assented to and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Cummings presented a memorial from Merchants of Bal-
timore in relation to the Pilot Laws;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Judiciary.
Also, a memorial from Pilots of Baltimore in relation to the
Pilot Laws;
Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary. .
Mr. Hazen presented the application of Oliver Wood, for
comnpensation for services rendered;
Winch was read and referred to the committee on Claims.
On motion of Mr. Rider,
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Joshua R.
Handy is absent from his seat on account of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Angel,
Ordered, That it he entered on. the Journal, that Moses
Shaw of Carroll county is absent on account of sickness in his
family.
Mr. Cook submitted the following order;
Ordered, That it he entered on the Journal, that this House
most unqualifiedly endorses the letter of General Grant, pub-
lished in the Baltimore American of to-day, opposing the
removal of Federal troops from the late rebellious States, and
dissenting from the arming of the militia of those States, be-
lieving the views of the Lieutenant General to be wise and
just at this time;
Which was read and laid over informally.
