The Speaker announced the following appointments:
William Wright, assistant Sergeant-at-Arms in place of
Walter Moxley, resigned; Thomas Cook page in place of N.
H. Pollock, resigned; Alfred S. Cooper, doorkeeper in place
of William Wittemore.
The House adjourned until to morrow at 11 o'clock.
FRIDAY, January 12th, 1866.
The House met at 11 A. M., and was opened with prayer
by Rev. Mr. Hammond.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. Frazier, Speaker; Agnew, Angel, Bartell, Barron,
Brown, Buhrman, Calvert, Cairns, Chew, Clift; Comegys,
Cook, Cronise, Cummings, Darling, Eavey, Everhart, Fooks,
Fawcett, Foster, Garrison, Hazen, Hodson, Hoffman, Hollo-
way, Hopkins, Hynes, Jamison, Jones, Keefer, King, Kirk,
Leaverton, Lee of Baltimore city, Lusby, Malone, Markey,
McCauley, McCullough, Miller of Anne Arundel, Miller of
Washington, Mittag, Mules, Nairne, Norris, Parker Pen-
nington, Pilkington, Poteet, Rider, Robinson, Shaw, Sherry,
Slothower, Smith of Allegany, Smith of Dorchester, Smith
of Frederick, Super, Tolson, Tull, Usilton, Wardwell, War-
ner, Watkins, Willis, Wilson, Wooden, Zeigler—68.
The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.
Mr. Fawcett presented a petition from Harriet Snowden
and other persons of color for relief, and asking that the land
of which deceased father died, seized and possessed, may be
vested in them.
Also a petition of John W. Pitcock, of Baltimore county,
to change his name to John W. Baker;
Which were read and referred to the committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Malone presented a petition from 90 citizens of Somer-
set county, in favor of a Law to authorize the commissioners
of said county to subscribe for 10, 000 shares of the capital
stock of the Eastern Shore Railroad Co.
Which was read and referred to the Somerset delegation.
Mr. Cook presented a petition from Samuel M. Lander
asking a certain amount of money to be refunded;
