On motion of Mr. Chew,
Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill to repeal and re-enact the 2nd section of the act of
1865, Chapter 126, entitled "An act for the relief of certain
parties indebted to the State."
On motion of Mr. Smith, of Allegany,
Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary, to re-
port a bill to amend the 37th, article of the Public General
Laws, by repealing the 1, 2,; i, 4 and 5, sections of the said
article relating to the competency of witnesses.
On motion of Mr. Brown,
Leave was granted the committee of Ways and Means, to
report a bill to provide for the payment of the officers of Re-
gistration in the State of Maryland.
On motion of Mr. Bartell,
Leave was granted the Baltimore city delegation, to report
a bill to run the Baltimore city Railway Cars on Sunday.
Mr. Miller, of Anne Arundel, submitted the following
RESOLUTIONS:
Resolved by the House of Delegates of Maryland, That the
policy announced by the President of the United States in
his recent message to Congress, is in the judgment of this
body the safest and most practicable mode of effecting a com-
plete and permanent restoration of harmony, peace and union
to the country.
.Resolved, That the President is entitled to the thanks of
the people for his wise and successfull efforts to restore civil
government, law and order to the States whose citizens were
lately in insurrection against the authority of the Federal
Government, and deserves, and in the further prosecution
and consummation of a plan so judiciously begun, should re-
ceive, the cordial and earnest support of all good citizens.
Which were read the first time.
Mr. Norris, from Select Committee,
Reported favorably on a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate
the Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Road Company in Car-
roll county;
Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Norris,
The bill was recommitted to the Select Committee.
